The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for automatic recognition based on CBS for a disaster broadcasting service in a DMB system and, more specifically, to a method and an apparatus for receiving a CBS flag message for a disaster broadcasting service from a DMB controller, operating a DMB module in standby mode to receive a multimedia type disaster message broadcasting service, and displaying the multimedia type disaster message broadcasting service on a screen of the DMB module. The objective of the present invention is to provide a method and an apparatus for automatic recognition based on CBS for a disaster broadcasting service in a DMB system which use the paging function of CBS to allow only DMB users in a disaster area to receive detailed multimedia type disaster information without the use of a separate automatic recognition device.
