The present invention relates to a water purification apparatus for purifying a wide-area water surface in a short time, in which a sunlight generation means is installed on a floating body floating on a water surface; an artificial vegetation island is configured by planting vegetation on an outskirt area of the floating body; and a plurality of water purifying means, each of which is connected to the vegetation island, the water purifying means being configured by a water circulation unit forcibly circulating water with respect to the vegetation island or a bubble generation unit for increasing a content of dissolved oxygen in the water to prevent generation of green algae or degradation of water quality. According to this configuration, the water purification apparatus is driven by supplying electric energy generated from the sunlight generation means to each of water purifying means, so that the plurality of water circulation units and the bubble generation unit can be easily installed and managed in a centralized way, and also the plurality of water circulation units and the bubble generation unit can be operated simultaneously even without installation of additional power supplying means, thereby purifying the wide-area water surface over a wide area in a short time by each of the units as well as purifying water quality by virtue of the vegetation island.
