An operation method of an up-flow sand filtration apparatus of the present invention comprises a raw water supplying step of supplying raw water; a raw water transferring step of transferring raw water supplied through a raw water supplying pipe having one end connected with the lower side of the raw water inlet part; a raw water filtering step filtering the raw water by flowing up by filtering sand filled inside a filtering tank; a purified water discharging step of discharging purified water through a purified water discharging part including an auto valve formed on the upper part of the filtering tank; a filtering stopping step stopping inflow of the raw water and discharge of the purified water by closing the auto valve; a filtering sand collecting step of collecting the filtering sand to a filtering sand collecting tank; a filtering sand washing step washing the filtering sand by a filtering sand washing device; a filtering sand resupplying step of resupplying the filtering sand by a filtering sand resupplying device formed on the upper side of the filtering tank; and a filtering restarting step of restarting inflow of raw water and discharge of purified water by opening the auto valve, to have an advantage of maintaining a uniform filtering ability and water quality of purified water without additional input and replacement of filtering sand.
