PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a service expanded by using a message input window included in a chat window for providing an instant message service.SOLUTION: An extended service providing method includes the steps of: displaying at least one chat message and a message input window included in a chat room including an object user and at least one other party user; displaying the input of the object user to the message input window; determining as to which of the chat message and a search query the input of the object user is pertinent on the basis of the gesture of the object user; and transmitting the input of the object user to the chart server or the search server in accordance with the determination result.
