The virtual demand-response server can process one or more demand-response protocols. The present invention includes a virtual demand-response server, integrates the virtual demand-response server and a gateway into a single server, and enables a demand-response client to configure a network environment for a demand-response server automatically by using a DHCP server, thereby enabling an individual demand-response client to configure a network environment for a demand-response server easily or automatically without a complicated network configuration process in accordance with a multi-protocol environment.
