A welding system, comprising:;power source (152) connected to the welding head (200), which generates a welding arc between the electrode (205) and the workpiece,;means (153) controls the magnetic field,;arc manipulator comprising:;a support structure or support (103), which supports the magnetic coil (117) generating a magnetic field in response to an electrical current supplied from the device (153) controls the magnetic field,;a magnetic probe (107) magnetically coupled to the magnetic coil (117) and located below the support structure, whereby the magnetic sensor (107) can penetrate into the joint gap for supplying at least a portion of the magnetic field to the welding arc, and;tube (105) for the protective gas extending below the support structure, whereby the tube for protective gas can penetrate into the gap between the edges to be welded for supplying protective gas to the welding arc.;11. Welding system according to claim 10, further comprising a cooling system coupled to the manipulator for cooling arc welding arc manipulator.;12. Welding system according to claim 10, further comprising a shielding gas system connected to the welding arc manipulator for feeding protective gas into the tube for protective gas.;13. Welding system according to claim 10, wherein the power source is a power source for welding a tungsten electrode in inert gas.
