1. A method of producing a polymer in the form of a direct aqueous emulsion, characterized in that the method uses a polymerization reaction: a) 20-60 wt.% Methacrylic acid and potentially acrylic acid; b) 40-80 wt.% At least one ether ( meth) acrylic acid; c) 0.05-22 wt.% 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid; d) 0-1 wt.% at least one crosslinked monomer; total content a) + b) + c) + d a) is equal to 100%, a) 20-60 wt.% methacrylic acid and potentially acrylic acid; b) 40-80 wt.% at least one ester of (meth) acrylic acid; c) 0.5-25 wt.% monomer a containing a hydrophobic group; d) 0.05-22 wt.% 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid; e) 0-1 wt.% at least one crosslinked monomer; total content a) + b) + c) + d) + e) is equal to 100%, expressed as a percentage by weight of each of the monomers, and characterized in that the method does not contain surfactants and solvents other than water. 2. A method according to claim 1, characterized in that the (meth) acrylic acid ester is selected from ethyl acrylate, butyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate and mixtures thereof. The method according to claim 1, characterized in that the monomer contains a hydrophobic group of the general formula (I) where: - m, n, p and q are integers, and m, n, p is less than 150, q is greater than 0 and at least one the number among m, n and p is not zero; - R has a polymerizable vinyl function, - R and R are the same or different and represent hydrogen atoms or alkyl groups, - R 'is a hydrophobic group of at least 6 and at most 36 atoms carbon. 4.
