METHOD FOR SURGICAL MANAGEMENT OF CLOSED SPLINTED TONGUE-SHAPED CALCANEAL FRACTURE

FIELD: medicine.;SUBSTANCE: method involves fragments reposition with using a reposition rod and bringing wires for cannulated screws. The reposition is followed by inserting at least two wires for temporary fragments fixation, while the reposition rod is removed. A biocomposite in the form of phosphate cement is introduced through its canal until a gap between the fragments is filled along a fracture line. After hardening, three wires are introduced to insert the cannulated screws. One wire is brought through the upper surface of a tongue-shaped fragment into an anterior calcaneal bone, while the other one - through the posterior fragment into the anterior calcaneal bone. The third pin is brought through the plantar surface of the posterior calcaneal bone into the anterior fragment. Thereafter, the cannulated screws with the diameter of 4.0 mm are introduced along the above wires, and then all the wires are removed.;EFFECT: more stable osteosynthesis involving no calcaneal bone shortening without a shear load of the screws.;1 ex, 10 dwg
