FIELD: chemistry.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to finely dispersed starch-containing dispersions of polymers, a method of their obtaining and application. A finely dispersed starch-containing dispersion of polymers, intended as gluing means and coating means for paper, cardboard and cartonnage is obtained by an initiated by radicals emulsion polymerisation of ethylene-unsaturated monomers in the presence of, at least, one redox initiator and starch. As ethylene-unsaturated monomers used are: (a) 30 to 60 wt % of, at least, one, if necessary, substituted styrene, (b) 1 to 55 wt % of, at least, one C1-C12-alkyl ether of acrylic acid and/or C1-C12-alkyl ether of methacrylic acid, (c) 0 to 10 wt % of, at least, one further ethylene-unsaturated, capable of copolymerisation monomer, and as starch - (d) 15 to 40 wt % of, at least, one disorganised starch with a molecular weight Mw from 1 000 to 65 000 g/mol, with the sum (a)+(b)+(c)+(d) constituting 100% and relating to the total content of the solid substance; polymerisation being carried out in the presence of, at least, 0.01 wt %, counted per used monomers, of, at least, one terpene-containing polymerisation regulator.
