FIELD: food industry.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to compositions for maintenance or increase of growth and cognitive development of a foetus, baby or child; the compositions contain one or more complex lipid(s) where the complex lipid(s) include(s) at least approximately 0.1% of gangliosides of dry substance weight. Additionally, the invention relates to application of the complex lipid(s) for production of the said compositions wherein the said lipids include at least approximately 0.1% of gangliosides of dry substance weight. Additionally, the invention relates to methods for maintenance or increase of growth and cognitive development of a foetus, baby or child; the methods involve the said compositions administration to a foetus, baby or child in need thereof.
