FIELD: physics, computer engineering.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an ambient illumination system for a display device in which light sources are mounted on the periphery or back surface of the display device for emitting ambient light towards a wall behind the display device. The result is achieved due to that an input means receives colour information indicating the colour of the wall. A processor changes the colour of the emitted ambient light to the received colour information of the wall such that light reflected from the wall in the direction of the viewing region of the display device matches the screen colours of the display device.;EFFECT: wider range of technical capabilities of the ambient illumination system.;10 cl, 6 dwg
