The device (1) has an arm (2) consisting of a crane (3), and an automatic hammer (7) is suspended on a cable of the crane, where the hammer is able to be positioned and encased on an upper part of a pile (5) for insertion in the ground. A piston (8) is able to freely go down under the increased effect of gravity due to adjustable pneumatic pressure put on upper part of the piston. The piston strikes an intermediate plate so as to allow the pile to go down in the ground. The pile is guided to maintain its upright position by a guide device (6) provided on a cup (4) of a backhoe shovel.
