A grinding unit has receiving device which is rotatably mounted to support device. The receiving device has a side flange (40) which connects the upper transverse bridge (38) and lower base (36) of cage (34). The cage has lower bearing (46) arranged at an axial position below lower base, and an upper bearing (48) arranged at an axial position above upper transverse bridge. A grinding vessel (12) is inserted into cage during grinding process, and is removed from cage if housing cover is opened.
