The device has a thrust compensated variometer for determining absolute vertical speed, which is deducted by a portion of motor-generated vertical speed. The portion of the vertical speed is caused by motor thrust for determining a thrust compensation variometer value. The portion of the vertical speed is calculated by analog and digital provision of parameters such as efficiencies, motor thrust, temperature, fuel consumption and rotation speed during flight. The portion of the vertical speed is determined depending on different performance adjustments and air speeds.
