The sensor unit (13) has a control unit (17) interconnected with transmission and reception electrodes (15, 16) and detecting a capacitance measured variable (K) characterized for electric capacitance of an electrode assembly (14). The control unit outputs an actuating signal (B) for actuation of a tailgate (5), if a time course of the capacitance measured variable meets a trigger criterion. The electrodes of the electrode assembly are attached at a rear bumper lining (3) so that the course of the capacitance measured variable is produced by force exertion on the lining. An independent claim is also included for a vehicle.
