The monitoring layer (3) is applied on basic composite layers (2) such that the basic composite layers are recognized by simple visual inspection. The monitoring layer exhibits a wall thickness below 5 mm after mechanical processing and made of fiber composite material. Fiber alignment in the monitoring layer is varied opposite to fiber alignment of the basic layers at more than 10 degree. The monitoring layer is applied in a region (4) at a spacing starting from a mark outer diameter (6) measured from an end (7) of a force application element (5) of a fiber composite pipe (1). The monitoring layer consists of dyed resin systems, unreinforced plastic, non-woven fabric plastics, elastomer- or rubber materials. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a monitoring layer on a train pressing rod.
