The seat has an inclination adjusting fitting (1) including an adjustment mechanism for inclination adjustment of a main structure element (10) relative to another main structure element around a rotational axis. The fitting includes a toothed element, which is directly connected with a holding element (4) that is rotatingly completely provided around the axis. The former structure element is connected with the holding element only on a side of the axis. The holding element forms a lower part of the former structure element. The mechanism is provided on inside of the former structure element. An independent claim is also included for a method for mounting a vehicle seat.
