The relay station has trailers which are uncoupled from the trailer coupling while undocking and are coupled to adjacent columns by slight turning. The trailers are uncoupled from the columns and are coupled to the trailer coupling of the electric vehicle in the reverse order during docking. The column is connected with a bidirectional inverter by a power line, where the inverter extracts current from an electric network to be supplied for charging the docked trailer. The energy of the trailer is returned into the network using the inverter.
