The device (1) comprises a sensor unit (2), which is adapted to determine a measurement value (W1), which is characterized for rotation of the bearing elements (16). Another sensor unit (4) is provided, which is adapted to determine another measurement value (W2), which is characterized for a lubrication state of the bearing unit (14). A detection unit (6) is adapted to determine a third measurement value (W3), which is characterized for a position of the bearing element or a rotary movement of the machine element (12). The processor unit outputs the result value corresponding to the former, latter and third measurement values, which is characterized for wear of the machine. An independent claim is included for a method for determining wear of a machine.
