The body column (3), particularly a B-column for a vehicle, has a hollow support (9) and a reinforcing element (11) for increasing a side impact strength. A head portion (13) is attached at a roof-longitudinal beam (7) of a body in white. The reinforcing element has a predetermined deformation point (19) at a passage of a foot portion (15) in a column section (17). A deformation of the body column is introduced in a side crash at the deformation point. The predetermined deformation point is a bead formed by sheet metal forming.
