The motor vehicle has an actuating device (8) for a sliding door which closes a door opening in a side wall (5) of the motor vehicle in its closed position. The sliding door is arranged in its open position before a wall area (6) of the side wall. The side wall has a through hole (12), in which a drive wheel (10) connected with a guide rail (7) is inserted such that the guide rail is arranged on an outer side (14) of the side wall. The drive wheel is arranged on the inner side (13) of the side wall and is connected with a drive unit (9).
