The method involves profiling and/or structuring a flat strip (101) e.g. hot strip, of a flat metal product on a side by roller pairs (102, 103). The strip is formed into a tubular body after profiling and/or structuring. The tubular body is shortened to a length desired for a tubular bolt element. The bolt element is made of a metal material. Outside profiles and/or structures are produced in a flat condition of the strip. The tubular body is welded at a tube with a closed circumference in a longitudinal direction in a welding station (106). An independent claim is also included for a tubular bolt element.
