The axle has a control arm (20) comprising a transverse strut projection element (30), and a transverse strut comprising a control arm projection element. The projection elements are firmly connected with one another. The transverse strut projection element is designed as a tube element or a pipe section and made of a material that is different from that of the control arm. The projection elements are molded into one another and made of steel alloy. An axial recess (31) and/or an extensive recess (32) are distributed over a peripheral part of the transverse strut projection element. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a rear axle for a motor car.
