The electric drive comprises a generator (G), a hub motor (M) with recuperation properties (R), a battery (A), a torque sensor and an electronic controller (SG) with appropriate controls. The generator is driven using the pedal drive (T) with pre-selectable pedal power and supplies the battery. A desired pedaling frequency is assigned a conduction speed (V), by which the current driving speed is controlled in proportion to the current pedaling frequency.
