The method comprises closing a lower discharge outlet of a casting tube with melt, accumulating the melt in the casting tube and completely filling the lower discharge outlet to above an upper inlet opening out into a melt level (6) above an overflow edge between the casting tube and a melt reservoir, controlling and/or regulating the melt flow in the casting tube by varying the melt level to a congestion level in conjunction with a vertical movement of the melt level and by controlling a gas pressure in a pressure control chamber (5), and stopping the melt flow in the casting tube. The method comprises closing a lower discharge outlet of a casting tube with melt, accumulating the melt in the casting tube and completely filling the lower discharge outlet to above an upper inlet opening out into a melt level (6) above an overflow edge between the casting tube and a melt reservoir, controlling and/or regulating the melt flow in the casting tube by varying the melt level to a congestion level in conjunction with a vertical movement of the melt level and by controlling a gas pressure in a pressure control chamber (5), stopping the melt flow in the casting tube, and emptying the melt through the gas pressure in the pressure control chamber to atmospheric pressure and lowering the congestion level to zero. The mouth of the outlet is closed by geometry of flow cross-sections. The method further comprises raising and lowering the melt reservoir to a circular arc segment with a fixed center and at the lower discharge outlet of the casting tube, and setting a reduced pressure in the pressure control chamber of a metering system for the regulation of the melt flow in the casting tube. An independent claim is included for a dosing device as in the form of a transport vessel for filling a recording system.
