The guard (1) has a U-shaped profile, where the guard is designed along the length such that the guard is mounted on a ladder rung (4) between spars of a ladder from top of the rung. Strips (3) are arranged at a vertical inner side (2) of the guard such that the strips are arranged almost over the whole length of the vertical inner side of the guard. The strips are fixed at two inner side ends of the rung between the spars by two clamping jaws (6) encompassing the rung guard and the rung. The strip is made of resilient material, which balances deviations between the guard and the rung.
