The system has receiver that is supplied with a single-or-multi-phase alternating current voltage. The receiver is provided with a signal input, and a rectifier. The alternating current voltage is applied to rectifier. The unipolar voltage e.g. intermediate circuit voltage is obtained from output side of rectifier. The switching threshold determining unit (GL1) is fed by a voltage divider which is arranged between the signal input and a potential of the unipolar voltage. The voltage at output of receiver resting against switching threshold determining unit is determined. An independent claim is included for method for operating system.
