The drive unit comprises a switch head (1), an exchangeable adapter (2) and a locking contour (3) with a locking and actuating cone (6). The locking and actuating cone is mounted displaceably and is moved by operating rod (4). An electric actuator (9) is provided as drive for actuating rod, such that the electrical actuator is formed integrally in the switch head. An independent claim is included for a method for changing tools by tool changer.
