The system (1) has exhaust line (3) that discharges exhaust gas from the internal combustion engine (5). A reduction unit (7) reduces the nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas. The upstream of the reduction unit is arranged with adsorber (13) comprising a moisture-adsorbing element (15) and a nitrogen oxide adsorption unit (17). A temperature control device (21) has a temperature control unit that actively controls or regulates the temperature of exhaust gas in a region of reduction device (7) and/or in the region of the adsorber (13).
