The axial piston engine (2) has a drive device with a pivoting swash plate (8), which is mounted on a slide bearing surface of a swash plate bearing (24) over another slide bearing surface. The pivoting angle (10) of the pivoting swash plate is adjusted for adjusting the displacement by a signal box (32). Two load relieving surfaces (64,66) are formed in the latter slide bearing surface for hydrostatic relief. The load relieving surfaces are independently subjected to high pressure and are relieved. The axial piston engine is constructed in swash plate design. An independent claim is included for a drive train of a motor vehicle with a hybrid gear.
