Device and algorithm for capturing HDR video (High Dynamic Range - high dynamic range)

Embodiments relate to allowing digital cameras to digitally process a captured sequence of low dynamic range images at a real time video rate and convert the image sequence to a high dynamic range (HDR) sequence using a pipeline architecture. Two or more frames are captured using different exposure settings and then combined to form a single HDR output image in a video sequence. The pipeline architecture processes adjacent frames by performing image alignment, image blending, and tone mapping on the adjacent frames to generate the HDR image sequence.
