The method involves providing a seal (30) that is arranged on an outer surface of a bipolar plate (26). A cavity is formed on the bipolar plate. The seal is coated on the cavity that faces away from a wall (31) of the bipolar plate. The cavity facing side of the wall with counter-pressure is temporarily applied simultaneously by fluid, where the counter-pressure has a time curve as a function in the manufacture or application of the seal. The pressure-lossy seal is formed by injection-molding. An independent claim is also included for a tool for manufacturing a bipolar-seal unit for a fuel cell.
