The apparatus has a suspension unit (6) for suspension an end portion of the multi-conductor cable (10). The traction units (15) and fastening units (30,40) are held in a vertical position at a point of suspension (50). The end portions of individual wires (12) of cable are received and collected by respective traction units. A horizontally arranged plate (32) is arranged on the traction units and is freely suspended from suspension point via fastening units and a tow eye (16) that is provided underside of the horizontally arranged plate. An independent claim is included for method for anchoring multi-conductor cable.
