The sensor device (10) has a primary annular winding (4) that is aligned to the axis (6) of the ferromagnetic shaft (5). The secondary annular winding (2) is aligned with the primary annular winding and the axis. The alternating current (A) is applied to primary annular winding and magnetic field is provided for aligning the magnetic domains of the ferromagnetic shaft. The alternating current is induced in secondary winding so that torque applied on the ferromagnetic shaft is detected.
