The vehicle bodywork component comprises a composite material with a carrier (12) and an outer skin (14) that is made from carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic and has thickness between 0.3 mm and 5 mm. The outer skin is provided with paint, particularly a clear coat. The carrier has a core (16), which is bounded by a polyurethane or glass-fiber layer (18,20) on both sides with the outer skin borders. The bordering on the outer skin has a reinforcement that consists of glass fibers and a non-woven fabric. The core is formed from a paper honeycomb structure, which is made up of froth material.
