The method involves manufacturing a coating receiving area (1) and a switching impulse region (2) from polyurethane and inserting a side wall of a recess (5) from polyurethane than comprises a hard composition than the polyurethane of the coating receiving area and the switching impulse region. A screw thread is formed into the side wall of the recess, and a lid unit is screwed onto the recess. The side wall forms an enclosure and a sealing lip to the lid unit. The switching impulse region comprises switching lines (8, 9) connected to the receiving area. An independent claim is also included for a switching mat.
