The steam generating device has a steam generating chamber (12) heated by a heater (17), and is provided with an inlet for introducing water and an outlet for the generated steam. The steam generating chamber is formed as a round, cylindrical hollow body, while the heater is mounted at the outer side of the chamber. The water supplied the top of the steam generating chamber is introduced through the inlet for generating steam, so that the inside of the chamber is moistened by the water running down.
