The method involves rinsing a wood to be treated using clear water, and exposing the rinsed wood to UV-radiation that is produced by natural sunlight, a mercury vapor lamp or UV LEDs. The UV-radiation exposed wood is again rinsed using the clear water. The rinsed wood is dried using a drying process i.e. natural drying process, that is carried out in outdoor areas. The two rinsing steps, the UV-radiation exposing step and the drying step are repeatedly performed until all dissolved components are removed from the wood. An independent claim is also included for a wood.
