The method involves flowing firing gas from gas valve (2) into a gas path in a suction nozzle along the gas flow direction in front of the suction nozzle. The amount of gas flow is restricted by pneumatically controllable unit. The amount of gas flow-limiting effect is pneumatically controlled in an operating state of the firing by a differential pressure resulting from the difference between the gas pressure (p-offset) on the gas valve and the pressure (p-venturi) of the suction nozzle. An independent claim is included for firing device.
