The method involves folding an edge of a composite sheet (1). The sheet is bent in another step. A folding punch (5), a holding down clamp (6) and a folding jaw (7) are used during folding. The folding punch has a groove extending in bending direction below the bending edge of the folding punch. The inlet- or folding gap between the folding punch and the folding jaw corresponds to the entire thickness of the composite sheet or is larger than the entire thickness of the composite sheet. The composite sheet is folded at right angles and is subsequently bent.
