The device (2) has sliders (4, 5) which are adapted to the adjusting movement of a roof panel (3). A vehicle-fixed guide rail (6) configured for guiding the sliders. The first slider (4) is drivable and movable along the guide rail. A second slider is configured to entrain along a second portion of movement in a predetermined position on the guide rail. A recess (9) on the guide rail is pivoted on reaching the predetermined position of the second slider to get out of engagement with the counter-element on the first slider. An independent claim is included for a vehicle roof.
