Method for spatiotemporal control of the electrical energy consumption of a telecommunications network as a function of conditions in a power network that is responsible for supplying the telecommunications network in space and time, the power network having a central power network monitoring unit that monitors the operating status of at least some of the components in the power network monitors, and the telecommunications network has a telecommunications control unit that controls at least some of the telecommunications network components in the telecommunications network, the power network monitoring unit and the telecommunications control unit being connected to one another via a network in order to digitally exchange information, comprising the following steps: - detection of overloading of the power network by low power supply in a spatial area, by exchanging information between the power grid monitoring unit and the telecommunication unit cation control unit, reducing the power consumption of the telecommunications network in the spatial area, by configuring the telecommunications network components in this spatial area by the power network monitoring unit for the period of low power supply; and / or - detection of an overload of the power network due to an excessively high power supply by exchanging information between the power network monitoring unit and the telecommunications control unit, increasing the power consumption of the telecommunications network in the spatial area, by configuring the telecommunications network components in this spatial area by the power network monitoring unit for the period of too high power supply; 1. The method according to the preceding claim, characterized in that a reduction in the power consumption of the telecommunications network components can be achieved by one or more of the following configurations: - decoupling the telecommunications network component from the power network and operation by a UPS, uninterruptible power supply, - changing a routing communication information to route the communication information around the spatial area; - Switching off redundant components in the telecommunication network components in the spatial area; - Reduction of the transmission speeds in the telecommunication network components in the spatial area.
