The floor cleaning device (1) has an acceleration sensor which is constructed to measure vertical accelerations occurred in the direction of the gravitational force. The acceleration-measurement values are evaluated with respect to the typical values of patterns regarding the substrate (U) traversed by the device. The floor cleaning device is constructed to make an adjustment to the substrate depending on the measured acceleration-measurement values.
