The electric energy supply system (20) has an energy conversion unit (22) and a fluid stream (10), where the energy conversion unit comprises a rotation element (40), which rotates about a rotational axis (R) and is designed to generate electric energy from the fluid stream. The rotation element has an inflow element (46) with an inflow surface (46'), where the rotation element is rotated in a rotation plane (RE). The main flow direction (SR) of the fluid stream is not parallel to the rotation plane. An independent claim is included for a method for generating electric energy by an electric energy supply system.
