The method comprises joining a bearing metal plate (6b) to a steel base body (6a) by inductive soldering, applying a flux and a solder to a solderable surface of the steel base body and a solderable surface of the metal plate, and heating the solder by an inductor. The solder is inserted as a solder foil between the steel base body and the bearing metal plate, or as a shaped element such as solder round blank, between the steel base body and the metal plate. The solder is covered with the flux. The inductor heats the flux first, and melts the solder after an exposure time of the flux. Independent claims are included for: (1) a sliding block for supporting a piston of a hydrostatic displacement machine; and (2) a hydrostatic positive-displacement engine.
