The apparatus (10) has an induction charging unit (14) comprising a charging electronics unit (16) and a resonant circuit for direct transfer of energy. A foreign object recognition unit (12) comprises a fixing unit for fixing a target quality and comparing the target quality with the actual quality of the resonant circuit for foreign object recognition. The induction charging unit is formed by a primary induction charging unit. The fixing unit fixes the target quality dependent on a measuring characteristic of the resonant circuit. An independent claim is also included for a method for calibrating an induction charging apparatus.
