The device has a die (2) and a setting die. The die is comprised of an anvil (3) with a recess (4) in which the setting die is inserted concentrically. A movable die dome (5) is comprised of a stop surface (6) at the facing end (9) to face the setting die. The stop surface of the movable die dome is moved between the movable position (A) by protruding out from the recess of the die and the fixed position (B) by fixing with the anvil of the die. An independent claim is included for a method for clinching ductile component with non-ductile component.
