The device (10) has a two-piece formed elastomer wiper strip unit (14) with an intensified head portion, and a spring rail (12) that includes a spring steel alloy made retaining hook for fixing the wiper strip unit. The retaining hook includes a stretcher region i.e. plate-like sub element, extending in longitudinal direction of the rail. The wiping strip unit comprises a rectangular feed-through recess, which partly receives the retaining hook in a mounted state. A recess of the rail is arranged in a region of the retaining hook. An end cap (24) locks the rail at the wiping strip unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling a wiper blade.
