The arrangement has an actuator (46,48,52) for controlling the position of the harvest conveying element, and a signal-transmitting detection device connected with the controller for detecting the occurrence of overloading process of harvest. The controller is provided to initiate the actuator automatically and to bring the harvest conveying element from a loading position for loading a loading container (18,18') placed inside the overloading range of the output device into an idle position, when the detecting device signalizes the controller that the overloading process is not possible. An independent claim is included for a method for controlling an adjustable harvest conveying element of an output device of a harvester.
