The simulation method involves detecting (S1) the positions of the objects that are located in an area, where the detection is performed for a current simulation interval. An object metric for the area is calculated (S2) for the current simulation interval based on the detected positions of the objects and the object metric of the previous simulation interval. The object metric is designed as a potential field calculated for the area. A dynamic navigation field is calculated (S3) for the current simulation interval based on the object metric and a predetermined static navigation field. The movements of objects in the area are simulated (S4) based on the calculated dynamic navigation field. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a developing device for developing the building structures, with a simulation device; and (2) a control device for controlling the object metric in the area, particularly a spatially limited area.
